The Christmas festivities organized by the Comité des fêtes light up the city of Uzès from December 1. But the highlight of the festive season is the 3-day Christmas market. Place aux Herbes, the town's landmark, will be transformed into a veritable Christmas village. Nearly 90 exhibitors from the Gard region and beyond will be on hand to offer a wide range of products: gastronomy, fashion, accessories, decoration, handicrafts and much more. Uzès Christmas market
The upcoming Christmas market will be held from Saturday December 14 to Monday December 16, 2024 on the Place aux Herbes in Uzès, famous for its year-round markets. Over 90 artisans, designers and producers from the Gard, Vaucluse, Drôme, Gers, Aveyron, Savoie, Ariège and other regions will be on hand to share their expertise.
You'll find a wide range of original gift ideas, unique creations for the home, fashion and wellbeing, as well as creative suggestions for embellishing your festive and New Year's Eve tables. You'll find gourmet products, local specialties, home decor, jewelry, leather goods and even wooden toys.
Christmas entertainment and parade
Entertainment is an essential part of this event. For three days, Uzès is brought to life by a series of events and shows.
The 2023 edition kicked off with a photo opportunity in the courtyard of the town hall, allowing young and old alike to meet their favorite Disney characters before the official opening of the Christmas market. The characters took regular walks around the market, putting on a variety of shows to add to the festive atmosphere.
On Sunday, a Disney show entitled "Le Monde Enchanté" was held free of charge at the Salle Polyvalente in Uzès. The show offered a magical and enchanting experience for children and adults alike. In addition, a stage was set up on the Place aux Herbes for a lively musical atmosphere with the presence of live bands. The square's cafés and bars were open for a gourmet break.
In the evening, the much-anticipated parade winds its way down the boulevard from the Évêché to the Place aux Herbes for the inauguration of the Christmas market. The choir, emblematic characters, a brass band, street performers and the famous Santa Claus, followed by children and their families, bring this festive parade to a close.
The Children's Village
Close to the Christmas market is the famous Children's Village on Place André Malraux, open on Sundays. A wide range of entertainment is on offer, including Santa's House (where you can take a photo with him), creative workshops such as drawing, face-painting, wooden games and a bouncy castle to keep the little ones entertained.
Rides and skating rink in Uzès
Christmas festivities extend well beyond the weekend of December 14-16 in Uzès. From early December to early January, the esplanade is transformed into a veritable amusement park, with a multitude of games, rides and food stalls. Every Wednesday and Saturday, the fairground organizes a big tombola offering the chance to win rides. For amusement park fans, spend a day with the family at Candyland in Uzès during your stay.
A few steps away, an ecological ice rink has also been set up for the enjoyment of skating fans.
In addition, a special letterbox has been installed in the town hall courtyard by the Comité des fêtes. Here, children can leave their letters to Santa. An extra touch of magic to make this season even more special!
