Terralha Festival presentation
Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie is the undisputed capital of ceramics! In this internationally renowned village of potters, the Terralha Festival has been organized by the Office Culturel since 1984. The town, rich in pottery traditions, culture and heritage, is then decked out in the colors of Europe, earth and fire, thanks to an itinerary dedicated to ceramics.
The aim of this festival is to introduce the "Terralha" (meaning "earthen vessel") to a varied public, from amateurs to enthusiasts. This event, orchestrated by the Maison de la Terre, highlights the skills of ceramists and offers a unique platform for admiring exceptional and innovative works. Over the years, it has become a not-to-be-missed event for art lovers, collectors and ceramics professionals alike.
The festival places particular emphasis on European ceramics, with the ambition of "bringing together the different forms of artistic and cultural expression in Europe in the field of ceramics". The festival invites some twenty European ceramic artists to exhibit stunning installations in a city entirely dedicated to the art. The works are presented in unusual, private locations, transformed into ephemeral exhibition spaces for the occasion. Strolling through the narrow streets of Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie, visitors can discover unique ceramic worlds as they enter shady courtyards, lush gardens or historic vaulted buildings. The originality of this festival lies in the novelty of its open-air exhibition venues. A veritable artistic journey awaits you at this event, which over the years has established itself as an essential rendezvous for ceramic art in Europe.
