Wine tourism hike and vineyards of the Duchy of Uzès

Book your stay in Uzès!

From August to November, the Uzège region is a paradise for nature and heritage lovers. On foot, by bike, or on horseback, let yourself be guided along the region's wine trails, breathe in the scented air of the garrigue, and wander through the heart of the green hills where the vineyards of the Duchy of Uzès thrive. Here, hiking becomes a true wine tourism experience, where history, wine, culture, and physical activity intertwine to reflect the art of living in the South of France.

Among the treasures to explore, the winemakers of the Collines du Bourdic have created an iconic route: the “Vines, Wines and Heritage” discovery trail. This marked loop invites you to immerse yourself in the Protected Designation of Origin Duchy of Uzès wine region, punctuated by Mediterranean landscapes and breathtaking panoramas. Along the way, educational panels explain the winemakers' craft, the richness of the grape varieties, and the distinctions that make our wines famous — from the AOP Duchy of Uzès to the Protected Geographical Indications Gard, Cévennes, and Pays d'Oc.

The itinerary also crosses the village of Bourdic, a true jewel of local heritage. Its narrow streets conceal a 12th-century Romanesque church, a Protestant temple from 1838, a 17th-century château, an ancient bridge, and even paleochristian tombs dating back to the 7th century. Between historical heritage and vineyard landscapes, the trail also runs alongside the Bourdic, a discreet stream that joins the Gardon river and brings welcome freshness to the vines on hot summer days.

This trail is not just a walk: it is an invitation to slow travel. Here, everything encourages you to slow down: walking without haste, listening to the wind in the olive trees, contemplating the light settling on the stones, or lingering in front of an informative sign. In July and August, bilingual guided tours allow you to go even further: a commented walk in the morning, followed by a tour of the wine cellars in the afternoon to discover the behind-the-scenes of winemaking. An ideal experience for families, wine enthusiasts, or the simply curious, thanks to an accessible route (suitable for all-terrain strollers) and a comfortable duration of 1 hour 45 minutes.

Hiking, wine tourism, and heritage: the Collines du Bourdic trail wonderfully embodies the richness of the Uzège. More than just a path, it is a way to relearn how to take your time, savor the present moment, and reconnect with the deep rhythm of nature.

And perhaps by walking slowly, you will realize that there is no greater luxury than taking your time.
