Overview of the Veni Vici trail: the Pont du Gard race

The Veni Vici is much more than just a race: it is a sporting immersion through 2,000 years of history. Its name evokes Julius Caesar's famous phrase “Veni, Vidi, Vici”, and this Pont du Gard race is the perfect embodiment of it.

The concept is simple: relive through the trails what the Romans shaped, with a route that connects three major sites of Roman antiquity: the arenas of Nîmes, the Jardins de la Fontaine, and the Roman aqueduct of the Pont du Gard.

The Veni Vici race offers an inclusive adventure, with routes for everyone: long-distance trail running, walking, discovery hikes, nordic walking, and even a family run.

The different routes of the Veni Vici 2026

For the 2026 edition, Veni Vici offers six routes adapted for all levels:

Uzès – Pont du Gard – Nîmes

The longest and most legendary route. Starting from Uzès in the early morning, this trail connects the town of Uzès to the arenas of Nîmes, passing through the Pont du Gard. A true challenge for experienced trail runners with an elevation gain of +2,250 meters. A legendary finish line in Nîmes for the most seasoned athletes.

Pont du Gard – Nîmes

An intermediate distance, starting from the Pont du Gard in the morning and finishing at the majestic arenas of Nîmes. Ideal for seasoned runners with an elevation gain of +1,470 meters and a demanding course profile.

Uzès – Pont du Gard

A course starting from the Duchy of Uzès and finishing at the foot of the Pont du Gard (left bank), running in reverse compared to last year's route for those who want to experience the magic of the site without going all the way to Nîmes. With an elevation gain of +715 m, it is an ideal run to push your limits without exhausting yourself.

Uzès – Pont du Gard

A timed Nordic walk starting from the Duchy of Uzès, crossing the garrigue and offering sublime panoramic views, all the way to the finish line at the Pont du Gard (left bank) in the village of Vers-Pont-du-Gard. Early morning departure, with a positive elevation gain of over 715 meters.

Pont du Gard – Pont du Gard

Accessible to all, this route lets you discover the Pont du Gard with a right-bank start in the morning and a left-bank finish. With a moderate elevation gain (525 meters D+), this route is perfectly suited for beginners and casual runners. Ideal for diving into the adventure before perhaps taking on a greater challenge in subsequent years.

Not reserved solely for athletes, the Veni Vici is open to everyone with this 16 km hike open from the age of 7. Departure from the Pont du Gard right bank in the morning and arrival on the left bank. A positive elevation gain of 445 meters and a best-of of the Pont du Gard site await you to enjoy with friends or family, provided you were born before December 31, 2019.

Please note: All courses include an iconic passage over the Pont du Gard – a magical moment to experience at the foot of the aqueduct, regardless of the distance chosen.
