If this is your first visit to the Boutique Hôtel Entraiguesdon't be surprised if a little ginger cat greets you with a look that's half-curious, half-paisible. Discreet but always present, this golden-coated feline took up residence here a few years ago... and has never left since. Uzès - nor our hearts.

Affectionate, quiet and naturally sociable, Schmutz embodies the spirit of the house better than anyone: the art of living, gentleness and love of the present moment. He wanders freely between the inner courtyard, the stone corridors and the light-filled lounges, bringing a familiar warmth to the place that our guests, young and old, often notice with tenderness.

A story of affection and transmission

His name, Schmutz, means "little kiss" in Alsatian - a nod to Jo Charlot, the establishment's founder and a native of this region of character. This four-legged companion quickly became the establishment's affectionate mascot, a living link between our visitors and our history.

Here, he has found more than just a roof over his head: a real home, a community of visitors who cajole him, observe him and sometimes photograph him. He also has his habits - always close by for breakfast, often asleep on a stone step warmed by the sun, sometimes lurking in a corner of the art gallery. He's part of the scenery, but never imposes himself.

Beyond his natural tenderness, Schmutz plays a more subtle but equally essential role: he soothes. His simple presence creates a more serene, more human atmosphere.
