Inaugurated on June 2, 2018, the Musée de la Romanité is opposite the Roman Arena of Nîmes, witness to two thousand years of history.
In the historic heart of the city, this superb contemporary building houses numerous collections of Roman heritage architecture representative of the life of yesteryear. The Museum is crossed by the remains of the Roman rampart and is designed as the gateway to an urban route. Its exterior appearance represents a mosaic in the form of a Roman toga. It is a building designed and created by the Franco-Brazilian architect Elizabeth de Portzamparc.
